Up to 15 people were on board the bus when it collided head-on with a truck around 6 a.m. on Route 37 in Louisville, a small city on the U.S.-Canada border, state police said. The truck driver was the only person in the vehicle.

Three others were injured and taken to hospital, one of them in critical condition. Police said the bus was carrying 15 people.

Police did not identify the car that hit the other, nor did they reveal the identity of the victims. Officials described the crash site as “gruesome,” WWNY reported.

The bus appears to be affiliated with the solar energy company LBFNY, based in Central New York.

The panel truck, a Penske rental truck, was fully loaded, officials said.
